Sherry Kleinman

My background in both textiles and art have provided the foundation for my creative process; spanning the spectrum from: traditional sewing skills I learned in 7th grade home economics to my lifelong love of fabric, crafts and fine arts. My fiber art reflects a mixed media approach with various combinations of drawing, painting, collaging, textiles, stitching, and digital. 

Variety is my “spice of life”. My work sometimes has a digital component, manipulating on an iPad app, then printing the image commercially ready for hand and machine stitching. My most recent quilt (Community of Crows) was a return to machine appliqué using burlap (so messy…never again!!)

We lost our home of 36 years in the Palisades Fire. No words can describe the grief and loss of everything, especially the irreplaceable (a houseful of art, family photos, a lifetime with our family). My husband and I have relocated to Woodland Hills to begin our new chapter. Joining Extreme Quilters gives me a reason to continue to create. I have a new studio, sewing machine, and art supplies.
